A complementary Ziehl-Neelsen stain was performed. Multifocally along the lamina propria, in the interstitium and in the macrophages cytoplasm, a large number of elongated, less than 1 micrometer in length, intensely stained with fuchsin structures were detected (acid-alcohol bacilli).erficial epithelium is observed. The ileum villi are shortened and markedly thickened; multifocally, the villi are fused (atrophy and fusion of the villi of the ileum).
